Emily Alvers’ passion for health and wellness started at a very young age. Before Emily was even in primary school she was doing aerobic workouts to Jane Fonda on television. At just 5 years old she wanted to be “an exercise lady” and grew up loving competitive gymnastics, dance, and cheerleading. Emily later graduated Cum Laude with a Bachelor of Science degree in Health Science, from the University of Central Florida in Orlando, FL.
While it was tempting to pursue a career as a fitness trainer, Emily instead chose to follow in her mother’s footsteps and become a public school teacher, teaching middle school science. Emily went on to pursue a Master of Science degree in International Education with an emphasis on Health Education, graduating Summa Cum Laude from Nova Southeastern University in Ft. Lauderdale, FL.
Despite her passion for health and fitness, Emily herself drifted away from the healthy lifestyle that always kept her grounded before. After already losing her grandmother and father to cancer years before, her life took a turn for the worse when she then lost her mother and step-father to cancer within a short 6 month time span. Like many other people, she began to use unhealthy eating as a way to cope with stress.
Sugar bingeing and yo yo dieting became a way of life, and before she knew it she became someone she did not even recognize… both physically and mentally. It was then that Emily decided to enter the Body-for-LIFE transformation challenge. Losing an impressive 9.4% body fat in only 12 weeks, Emily was awarded as the 2008 Female Grand Master Champion, and became an official spokesperson for the world's largest sports nutrition company, EAS.
Emily is now recognized internationally as a Body-for-LIFE Champion and has inspired countless others to transform their bodies and lives. An ACSM Certified Personal Trainer, NESTA Lifestyle & Weight Management Coach, Sports Nutritionist, and Kids' Nutrition Specialist, she has worked as a corporate fitness trainer, motivational speaker, freelance health and fitness writer, model, actress and voice over talent represented by Wilhelmina Models (NY, NY) and Wilhelmina Brown (Austin, TX).
In addition, Emily volunteers her time for a cause very near and dear to her heart, the Lance Armstrong Foundation/LIVESTRONG, in Austin, TX. Emily’s life revolves around encouraging others to lead healthy lives and persevere no matter what obstacles they may face.
